Questions About Colonics

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes. In fact, with the Angel of Water®, sessions are much safer and easier than the common enema.

How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema?

An enema only reaches the rectum and the lower part of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy is much more effective as the entire length of the colon, 5-6 feet, is reached. According to the learned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, “One colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas.”

Will I be exposed during the treatment?

No. You will be asked to remove your clothing from the waist down and a sheet will be provided to cover up. Dee will explain how to insert the rectal nozzle yourself and leave the room for a few minutes while you disrobe and prepare for the treatment. You are never exposed with the Angel of Water system and you are always in control.

Do the treatments hurt?

No. The rectal nozzle is approximately the diameter of a pencil and is only inserted 1 1/2 inches into the rectum. The design of the Angel of Water device prevents over-insertion. In fact, many people report their Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy session as being both refreshing and relaxing.

Are there any contraindications to colon hydrotherapy using the Angel of Water?

If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy for you, you should consult your physician or licensed healthcare practitioner. Contraindications include, but are not limited to: recent (within 6 months) colon, rectal or abdominal surgery, congestive heart failure, intestinal perforations, carcinoma of the rectum, fissures or fistula, severe hemorrhoids, abdominal hernia, renal insufficiency, first or last trimester of pregnancy and cirrhosis of the liver.

Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy equipment?

The Angel of Water system uses single-use, sterile rectal nozzles. The use of sterile disposables coupled with the implementation of a multi-stage sanitation protocol with EPA registered disinfectants leaves no danger of contamination.

How long does a session take?

Actual session time is about 35-60 minutes, you should plan on 90 minutes for your first consultation and 60-75 minutes for subsequent appointments.

Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session have any effect on the experience?

No. Some consider it a good time to have a session since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the session.

What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing?

Refrain from eating about 2 hours before the cleansing, drink plenty of water, be as relaxed as possible and maintain a positive, cheerful attitude (repeat after me, “this is going to be fun!” 😉

Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing?

Usually not, but everyone is different. Some report a slight feeling of tiredness, similar to the feeling you have after exercising vigorously. Most people feel lighter and less bloated immediately. Many people will feel an abundance of energy.

Can I work directly after having colon hydrotherapy?

Yes. You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.

Will I be left alone during the Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy session?

No. Dee or Bre are both certified Angel of Water practitioners and will be monitoring you throughout the session for both your comfort and safety. They also offer foot and abdominal reflexology to enhance the effectiveness of your session.

Can my colon become dependent on colonics?

No. The peristaltic action of a colon cleanse will actually help strengthen the muscles involved. Laxatives work by irritating the colon and you can become dependent on them.
